Rules

  • Thailand Round (Online Exam)

    • The exam will be online in two languages (English and Thai).
    • Thailand round will be held on 20th February 2019.
    • Test link will be shared in advance and it will be activated on the exam day on February 20th, 2019 from 08:00 to 17:00.
    • Details about how to conduct the online test will be shared with the mentors.
    • Students from Thai, Bilingual, and International schools located in Thailand can join this round within a team of 3 participants in the same category.
    • Students can only register within a group of 3 students in the same category (see http://www.mathchallenge.in.th/equivalence-chart).
    • The deadline for the registration for the participants from Thailand is February 15th, 2019.
    • Registrations will be only online via register.mathchallenge.in.th
    • Registration fee is 750 THB per student. 
    • Test of 40 questions with 4 multiple choices will last 75 minutes.
    • 3 wrong answers will void 1 correct answer.
    • No calculator is allowed. 
    • A team’s score is calculated by the sum of the team members’ individual scores.
    • The teams score more than 60 points out of 120 points in this round will be eligible to participate in the international round. If the mean of all individual scores is less than 60, then the teams score more than the mean will be eligible to attend the next round. 
    • Students will be receiving individual awards according to their personal achievements in this round.
    • Students who are eligible to join the international round are not going to pay an additional fee and are not supposed to do the registration again for the next round.
  • International Round - First Round

    • This round will be held at Pan-Asia International School on March 9th, 2019 commencing at 09:00 am with registration and the test will start at 10:00 am.
    • Paper-pencil test of 40 questions with 4 multiple choices will last 75 minutes and this test questions will be only in English.
    • The deadline for the registration for the participants from outside Thailand is February 15th, 2019.
    • The registration form will be filled via register.mathchallenge.in.th
    • 3 wrong answers will void 1 correct answer.
    • Teams’ scores will be calculated by the sum of individual team members’ scores and 4 winning teams will be selected for each category to compete for the final round at the stage.
    • Students will be receiving individual awards according to their personal achievements in this round.
    • The teams which are eligible for the international round from Thailand round will also participate in this test.
  • International Round - Final Round

    • This round will be held at Rangsit University on March 11th, 2019 starting at 09:30 am.
    • The final round will be held on stage, a real-time competition between the 4 leading teams at Rangsit University.
    • 20 min is allocated for each grade level competition.
    • In case of a tie between the teams, there will be one tie-breaker question and the fastest replying team will be the winner.
    • After the final round, there will be awarding ceremony.
  • Qualifications

    • Contestants must currently be enrolled in the following classes;
       
      • American Curriculum Schools                                                      :  Grade 4-9
      • British Curriculum Schools                                                             :  Year 5-10
      • Thai Curriculum (English Program , Bilingual System )  :  Prathom 4-6 and Matthayom 1-3

     

  • How to Join

    • Mentors should choose 3 students for each team
    • Fill in the online registration form which will be available via register.mathchallenge.in.th
    • Pay the registration fee of 750 Thai Baht per student (for the participants joining from schools located in Thailand)
    • The payment covers medals, plaques, certificates, and food (breakfast, snacks, and lunch)
    • Deadline for submission of completed forms is February 15th, 2019 for both participants from Thailand and outside Thailand

     

     

  • Reminders for Mentors

    • Prepare your contestants for the competition according to the topics covered
    • Contestants should arrive at the test venue at least 30 minutes prior to the test time

     

     

  • Reminders for Students

    • Arrive at the test venue 30 minutes before your test time
    • Bring two (2) extra pencils and an eraser
    • Bring your VALID SCHOOL ID
    • Bags, food, cell-phones, PSPs, i-pads, and other electronic gadgets are not allowed inside the test room
    • You may bring a pencil case and watch into the testing room
    • The exam will start on time. Latecomers will be accommodated, but will not be given extra time to finish the exam
    • Visits to the restroom should be done before the exam. Students will not be allowed to go out of the testing room during the contest

     

     

  • Media Usage Rights

    • During the competition there will be some responsible people to take pictures and videos in elimination round, break time and in final round.
    • International Math Challenge Committee and Pan Asia International School have right to use the pictures and videos which are taken by regarding staff in official websites (www.pais.ac.th and www.mathchallenge.in.th ), Facebook pages (Pan-Asia International School Facebook page and International Math Challenge Facebook page), posters, banners, documents for any promotional purposes etc.
